Athletics Overview

The athletic program at St. Luke’s strives to enhance each student’s overall educational experience by providing spirited competition and by developing sportsmanship, physical fitness, self-discipline, and self-confidence.  Our coaching staff encourages the student-athlete to develop initiative, leadership, and teamwork by giving each student the opportunity to deal positively with the pressure of competition and to handle both wins and losses with grace.

Athletics have always been important to the students at St. Luke’s.  Beginning as early at K3 students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of athletic activities.   And because St. Luke’s is a smaller school, each student participant has greater opportunities to play and develop their athletic skills.

Our youngest athletes, the KiddieCats (Grades K3, K4 and K5) play Soccer, Basketball, and T-Ball.  Students in Grades 1 and 2, the Cubs, play Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cheerleading and Soccer.  The SuperCats (Grades 3-4, and 5-6) play Football, Cross Country, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading and Track & Field.

St. Luke’s is a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA)  and abides by the association’s rules and regulations governing high school athletics.  Beginning in the seventh grade both boys’ and girls’ teams participate in sports governed by the Association.  St. Luke’s fields the following teams:
