Special Events

St. Luke’s Episcopal School hosts numerous events each year.  Parents are always actively involved in both planning and participating in these special days.  Some events are grade specific.

  • Blessing of the Animals – Students in grades K3-2nd are encouraged to bring their pets from home and they receive a special blessing and prayer from Father Ken, rector of St. Luke’s Church.  If a student does not have a live pet at home, they may bring their favorite stuffed animal.   This event is in early October.
  • Fall Festival – Students in Early Childhood and Lower School, along with their parents, enjoy an evening of dinner, hayrides, and activities for the kids.  You can even wear a costume!  This event is usually held in late September.
  • Halloween Parade – Students in Early Childhood (K3, K4, K5) wear their costumes to school and participate in a parade around the Japonica Campus.  Parents and grandparents are invited to watch the parade.  Be sure to bring your camera!
  • Colonial Christmas – Students in the 3rd grade spend an entire day as a child living in Colonial America days.  They participate in activities that Colonial children participated in, centered around the Christmas season.
  • Mardi Gras Parade – Early Childhood students create Mardi Gras “floats” and parade them on the Japonica Campus.  Parents and grandparents are invited.
  • St. Luke’s Day – Students in Early Childhood and Lower School create banners to honor St. Luke.  A special chapel service is held in his honor.
  • Spring Festival – All St. Luke’s students participate in Spring Festival.  The 5th grade performs a traditional Maypole dance, K3 and K4 students perform in their spring bonnets, and all students spend the day in field events and enjoy food and games.  The culmination of the day is the tug-of-war between the red and blue teams.
  • Class Plays – Students in each grade level of  Early Childhood and Lower School put on a play in St. Luke’s Hall.
  • PAWS Dinner Auction – This event, usually held in March, is an opportunity for St. Luke’s parents to enjoy an adult evening of dinner, as well as a silent and a live auction.
